The XX Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow between 23 July and 3 August 2014 was the largest multi-sport and cultural event to be held in Scotland in a generation. At the end of the Games, Glasgow 2014 was hailed as "the standout Games in the history of the movement" by Commonwealth Games Federation Chief Executive Mike Hooper.

Glasgow 2014 commissioned AC2.com Productions to provide British Sign Language (BSL) translation services, studio equipment hire and studio set up at both the Opening and Closing ceremonies.  AC2.com also provided a unique SignLive online interpreting service at six main venues.  In particular we were able to offer revolutionary ideas in the filming of BSL, keeping abreast of new technologies to ensure a superior quality of BSL provision for the Deaf audiences.

The Opening Ceremony took place in Celtic Park on the evening of 23 July 2014 in front of approximately 40,000 spectators. AC2.com made history by providing the first Deaf Interpreter to interpret live for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Games was formally closed on 3 August 2014 during a spectacular Closing Ceremony at Hampden Park in Glasgow where Actual Signs AC2.com’s sister company, provided BSL interpreters for the Deaf spectators.

Head of Executive Assurance, Mark McGoldrick commented “The standard of services provided was at all times excellent and the AC2.com team was extremely cooperative with both media and accessibility management teams. Their unique insight and vast experience of providing accessibility services for Deaf and Hard of hearing people was invaluable in assisting and improving accessibility in this area at the Games.  I would have no hesitation in recommending AC2.com for future projects.”

AC2.com and SignLive feel privileged to have been commissioned to help make Glasgow 2014 as accessible as possible in what was deemed by Prince Imran of Malaysia, President of the Commonwealth Games Federation to be “the best games ever”
